Even as the Motor Lodge managed a few more years of life as the Wynfield Inn, the Restaurant was never successful again after it lost its Orange Roof. Interestingly the building received a new asphalt shingled roof while the rest of the facility was allowed to slowly deteriorate.

Razed in August of 2003, the former Motor Lodge's owners tried unsuccessfully to find a buyer to continue its operation as a place of lodging. But no buyer stepped forward to preserve tradition, and instead the whole place was leveled without a trace providing unobstructed views of a new Sam's Club as well as a site for out-parcel retail stores.
