The second of the two Motor Lodge/Restaurant complexes in Montgomery, the South location opened in the winter of 1970. Built parallel to I-65 at its intersection with U.S. 80, the prime spot was designed to capture motorists on Montgomery's south side. During the purges of the middle 1980s, South lost its HJ designation. The Proprty become a Red Carpet Inn then a Knights Inn before becoming unbranded and somewhat seedy looking as the Economy Inn. |
