This
Phoenix area stand-alone Restaurant was the last of the
three Restaurant only locations to have been built in Arizona.
It was opened in about 1967 and remained open as a Howard
Johnson's until sometime in 1979.
The
Restaurant was subsequently converted into a JB's. Founded
in 1961, JB's was a Big Boy franchisee until 1987. The company
suffered through ownership changes and two bankruptcy filings.
The unit on Indian School Rd. was shuttered in about 2008.
