 Texarxana-Downtown, Arkansas
915 E Broad St

Bypassed when I-30 opened, and a new Howard Johnson's complex was completed just over the state line, Texarkana's original circa 1959 HJ became the Master Host Inn. Its owners adopted the Best Western moniker which assured its continued existence. Gimmicks like the enclosed pool and water beds were added to lure people off the Interstate, and more importantly an RV park was added.

The postcard described the former HoJo's as follows:

The beautiful Aquadome, year-round Swimming pool is the highlight of this award winning Motor Hotel. Other features include saunas, whirlpool spa, putting green, driving range, shuffleboard, private club -- live entertainment. Convention Center, Recreational Vehicle Park, ThermaSol in room steam baths -- Free in-room movies.

Delicious food from our Seafood Restaurant delivered fresh to your door. Specializing in Louisiana French Style cooking...also economical cafeteria luncheons -- comprehensive menu and extensive wine list.

Quite a place for Texarkana!
