Texarkana-Interstate,
Texas -- 400 West 53rd St |
|
The
second Texarkana Howard Johnson's complex opened in 1969 shortly
after Interstate 30 was opened just on the Texas side of the border.
It essentially replaced the Texarkana-Downtown
HoJo's complex after co-existing with it for less than a year.
The
site remained a Howard Johnson's until about 1989 and was subsequently
converted into the Best Western Northgate and then into the Budget
Host Northgate. By 2013 it was not listed on the Budget Host website,
and a significant realignment of I-30 threatened the continued existence
of the former Motor Lodge and Restaurant complex.
