Located immediately along the Connecticut Turnpike or I-95, the Darien complex featured excellent visibility and easy access.

Below: Note how the south bound off ramp directly deposited motorists at the Restaurant's entrance.

The Restaurateur's lease expired at the end of November in 2000. Subsequently he pulled out all of his equipment--including the Dairy Bar seats as well as the Spire-Cupola. The Restaurant remained empty for eight years awaiting its demolition!

The cupola and its fins were rescued by a collector and then resold to another. The most recent owner of the space-age cupola has endeavored to restore it and even launched a site to chronicle the progress. Please note that the site: Simon & the Pieman.com has reproduced many of the photos on this site without credit and is not affiliated with Orangeroof.org or Highwayhost.org.
