Lasting
nearly three decades as a Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge, Southington
relinquished its Orange Roof at the end of 1993. Perhaps becoming
unbranded for a period of time, the former Motor Lodge eventually
became a Travelodge and has subsequently undergone additional
name changes. Unfortunately during one of its conversions, the
facility was greatly altered with the loss of its guest room sliders.
Nonetheless, its canopy Gate Lodge remained at the site.
Of
the nearly dozen that were built, by the late 2000s Southington's
A-Frame canopy Gate Lodge was the LAST one standing. |
