Cocoa's last owner had made a last desperate plea to local town politicians to save his motel. He had proposed a plan that would have kept the tired former HoJo's intact a while longer--he wanted to convert it into a shelter for homeless people. However his idea was rejected.

By the time Bob Venditti made his way along the coast to get these pictures, Cocoa's demolition had begun.
