Daytona
Beach-Oceanside --
2560 N Atlantic |
|
After
it opened in 1966, patrons could sit by the pool and enjoy an Atlantic
Ocean view, but as demand grew the Howard Johnson's added an eight
story high-rise that blocked the pool's ocean view. After
the high-rise portion of the Motor Lodge was built, the site's guest
rooms jumped from 80 to 140.

During
the early 2000s the Restaurant was operating as a Shoney's--like
the Daytona-Airport location.
However by 2003 the Shoney Bear had left the building, and it
had Oceanside Restaurant spelled out across its front windows. |

Along
the way, the former Motor Lodge was part of a mini-hospitality
empire. One of at least six Madorsky Inns, they were all apparently
located in the Daytona Beach area. |
