          Opened
in about 1972, Jacksonville-Beach was a fully modern seven floor
high-rise Motor Lodge and Restaurant complex. The facility featured
an expansive canopy and several meeting rooms along the connecting
area to the Restaurant as well as a swimming pool overlooking the
              Atlantic Ocean. |

                | Although
its Restaurant had already ceased being a HoJo's, the deluxe
oceanside Motor Lodge retained the Howard Johnson name until

                After
extensive renovations which eliminated the Restaurant and
moved the pool, the property was converted into a Choice Hotel's
                    Comfort Inn.
                  Though is was considerably
altered, the location was attractive and well-maintained. |

            Although
"Howard Johnson's" is not quite discernable, its labelscar
can be seen in the photo above. |
