At some point the Howard
Johnson's became part of the Holiday Isle Resort along with a
couple of adjacent motels. At the risk of offending someone,
I will say that from the brochure that Dan sent, the Holiday
Isle resort and its hodgepodge of properties looks rather cheesy!
Now that the owners have demolished the Orange Roofed Gate Lodge
the place has lost whatever character it may have still had.
In the photographs that
Richard took, the two HoJo's guest buildings maintain their exterior
HoJoness, and the bottom photo shows that at least one of the
buildings still has its HJ "stone" and original railings.
