Note the sweeping curve in I-195 that directs motorists to view the former Howard Johnson's high-rise as they approach the end of the limited access highway. The Interstate ends at Alton Road and deposited motorists nearly at the front entrance to the Miami Beach HoJo's!

Gateway to Miami Beach
Arguably the most swanky of all the standardized Motor Lodges ever built, the Miami Beach location served dual roles--it was both a full service hotel and a Motor Lodge!

Because of its glamorous location, Miami Beach served a cross section of patrons. Convenient as a traditional Motor Lodge because of its site immediately at the terminus of Interstate 195, Jet Setters--1960s style also found the HoJo's appealing for its hipness and proximity to Miami and Miami Beach.

Note the Penthouse suite was used by the Pulitzers as well as well heeled guests!
