With the dissolution of the Howard Johnson Company during 1986, the Restaurant at Panama City was converted into a local establishment called the Panama Cafe. It maintained that identity through 2006.

Note the replaced Panama Cafe sign by 2006 (the newer version is in the shot above). The original was likely damaged during one of the recent hurricane seasons.

The complex was built on a gentle curve along U.S. 98 affording motorists good view of its gleaming Orange Roofs -- especially as they entered the area from the west.
