Even
painted white, the original guest buildings at Panama City showed
their forward looking design and retained the modern look that
they were intended to evince.

When
Mr. Venditti spent a night at Panama City he enjoyed a second
floor room overlooking the swimming pool and bay. He noted
that his room "was quite nice and colorful, most everything
was in good condition and clean."
Oddly
the desk clerk gave him a terse "no" when he inquired
about the availability of a room in the single story section

Although
this location operated as a Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge, it was
not built as one and did not offer the standard HoJo's amenities.
This one would have been a disappointment for HoJo's enthusiasts
and purists! Later its site came to house the Boardwalk Beach
Resort & Convention Center.
