Phil reported that
the proprietress was weary of him until he showed her the old
postcard of the property that he had carried with him. She remarked
that the place looked better in the old view! Unfortunately the
ranch or Nims type Gate Lodge was stuccofied and had received
Cendant's button light treatment.
During the period in
which it was not a Howard Johnson's--sometime during the early
1980s, I was a guest in the old Motor Lodge. But it was a brief
visit and I can't say that I recall much about my visit of more
than 20 years ago.
