Stuart, Florida -- 950 South Federal Hwy (U.S.1)
 
An 82 guest room Motor Lodge and Restaurant complex, Stuart opened in the winter of 1973. Featuring a Mansard design and abbreviated balcony 2-story guest buildings, the Motor Lodge is one of only a few original purpose-built continuously operating Howard Johnson's in the Sunshine State (as of July 2006).

When Mr. Kimbrough visited the site in 2005 he discovered that the Restaurant had been remodeled, reopened and was wearing yet another name. His single room was adequate, but retained few of its original features.
