By the middle 1970s,
Tampa-East lost the Howard Johnson's name. It is amazing to see
the postcard views of set amidst an Orange Grove, for the area
in which it once was situated is now completely different. By
the Bernert's late 1990s photos, the Restaurant had been demolished
and the Motor Lodge had become the New Cigar City Motel. As is
often the case, the commercial district in which it was located
was developed, prospered, and then declined as newer areas of
Tampa became populated. |
