By the time this location
opened in the Spring of 1973 most complexes has begun to adopt
the Mansard Style and this one was no exception. After it opened,
it must have taken a good chunk of business from the U.S. 17
location, but that one hung on until 1979!
Unfortunately its form
today is almost unrecognizable. The Motor Lodge is a Red Rood
Inn sans the Mansard lobby, and the restaurant was long ago demolished
and replaced with a Shoney's.
Based on the notepad,
both Savannah-Gateway and Brunswick-West were owned by the same
franchisee, or were closely linked company owned outlets.
