 Brunswick-North, Georgia

Open in the Spring of 1969, this Motor Lodge/Restaurant was just a few miles north of an already existing free standing Restaurant along U.S. 17. Once the complex opened the free standing location ceased being a HoJo's. I-95 was not completed for several years, so at least until Brunswick-West opened along the partially complete Interstate, North had a short lived heyday!

This former Howard Johnson's, Bob noted, "is still unaltered and strikingly HoJo handsome architecturally." Unfortunately both the Gate Lodge and Restaurant are gone, and as the Golden Isles Inn is in poor condition.

I'd sure liked to have seen the rooms at this one--I bet they still had the continuous formica counters!
