LaSalle-Peru,
Illinois -- 1840 North 30th Road |
| |
Strategically
located on I-80 and U.S. 51 (now Hwy. 251) near the Lake DePue Outboard
Races, this Mansard Manor opened in 1974.
Rick
observed that since this HJ had such a good proximity to Chicago
and was along a heavy traffic corridor that it "had to have
done a killer business--it would be really hard to believe that
this HoJo was not profitable all the way to the end."
By
the middle 2000s the site had fallen into disrepair and had operated
for a period of time as an Econo Lodge before apparently closing
for good. |

End
of days for LaSalle-Peru: Its remains in a sad
state of abandonment, nature looks to reclaim the once Orange
Mansard Manor...
Below:
Mr. Venditti noted that the recycled HoJo's street sign's reader
board attempted to spell out "closed for remodeling." |
