When
it opened on December 31, 1953, the Springfield Howard Johnson's
Restaurant was the westernmost outlet of the chain. It was
owned by Harold Prehn. A newspaper account of its opening,
provided to this site by Rich Briley, indicated that the Restaurant
served 2,100 patrons the day it opened--157 at a time! |
