The Urbana Motor Lodge lasted almost thirty years. It opened in the Spring of 1966 and took off its Orange Roof in 1995 to become a Best Western. By Phil's visit in 2004 the former Motor Lodge had become the independent Eastland Suites.  The Gate Lodge no longer serves as the lobby. Instead the Restaurant was demolished and replaced with a new structure that houses conference rooms and the office for the property. The Gate Lodge is only accessible through the new office and is listed on the layout as the "Gate Lodge Room." The guest buildings to the right of the Gate Lodge are original while the buildings to the left were all constructed during the site's Best Western days. While it is nice to see that the property has been rehabilitated, and that the Gate Lodge has found new use, the original guest buildings have been greatly altered and are not very pleasing to the eye! At least the original brick was not painted or stuccoed.
