Des Moines-Downtown,
Iowa -- 921 6th Ave |

An
existing motel, the Des Moines-Downtown complex was a rare Howard
Johnson's conversion. Having become a HoJo's in 1977, the unit featured
standard amenities if not a standard layout. Lasting until 1986,
the facility was eventually converted into senior housing and called
Mercy
Court. |

Sioux
City, Iowa -- 701 Gordon Drive |
| |
A
standardized HoJo's, Sioux City was an ultra modern 6-story mid
rise that offered 118 guest rooms. Its Lobby and Restaurant were
built in the Mansard style and the Motor Lodge remained a Howard
Johnson's until 1992. Eventually the unit was converted into a Holiday
Inn. |
