Monroe,
Louisiana --
610 Civic Center Blvd (@ I-20)
-- 610 Lea Joyner Memorial Expy. |
Featuring
92 guest rooms, the Monroe complex was opened in the summer
of 1968. Although highly visible to motorists traveling along
I-20, the site was never as successful as projected and lost
its HoJo's status in 1982.
By
the middle 1980s it was operating as the Best Western Monroe
Motor Lodge. Having fallen on harder times the former Howard
Johnson's became the independent Civic Center Inn probably during
the middle 1990s, and by the beginning of the 2010s appeared
to be overgrown and out-of-business.
