Another of the
Fenway group of hotels, this one at Kenmore Square was converted
into a Howard Johnson's after it had been a Quality Inn. For
a time the location boasted that it had Boston's only "outside
glass elevator." It featured a rooftop enclosed swimming
pool, views of the Charles River, and a panoramic view of Boston's
skyline. Located adjacent to Boston University, it remained a
Howard Johnson until recently. By 2004 it stopped serving the
traveling public, and it was converted into dorm rooms for Boston
College students and served as a hostel during the summer months.
On August 7, 2004 the structure was temporarily evacuated due
to a boiler fire. |
