A Prototype No More:
With FAI's closure of Canton, its fate was sealed. Although it is possible that the Howard Johnson's Restaurant concept will survive in one form or another to be reborn, the old stuffy coots that ran it into the ground at the now defunct Franchise Associates will hopefully never be heard from again.

Meanwhile Canton was redeveloped, its prized location became a Baskin Robbins/Dunkin' Donuts. Note that the ice cream and donut chain like Howard Johnson's has had several corporate brand owners, but unlike HoJo's has prospered. It should also be pointed out that both Dunkin Donuts and Howard Johnson's trace their origins to the Quincy, Massachusetts area.

Sectioned off, Canton became transformed into two parts. While the dairy area became fast food and occupied by Dunkin' Brands, the HoJo's dining room became Blue Hills Sports Grille.

Save for the parking lot light standards no easily recognizable HoJo's evidence remained by 2004.
