The Bay City Restaurant and the one in Saginaw were owned for many years by the same proprietor. While Saginaw was demolished in 1998, the Bay City unit was purchased by Alex and Maro Neophytou in 1991 and operated as Stacey's Family Restaurant. Following Saginaw's closure the Neophytou's re-christianed Bay City a Howard Johnson's. In an article in The Bay City Times from August 11, 2003 Alex Neophytou said "My lease isn't up for another 20 years. We'll be around for a good long time."

In spite of Neophytou's claim, less than three years later the Bay City HoJo's closed for good...
