Most recently the Flint-East
Motor Lodge was open for business as a Best Inn. Set to open
in the Spring of 1970, its 24 hour Nims-style Restaurant featured
an upscale Red Coach Grill like interior. The 1970s postcard
bragged that the location had an "Indoor Pool, Tennis Courts,
Color TV, Billiards, All Under One Roof." Cactus Bob, Forgotten
Michigan's expert, discovered in the course of his research
that Flint-East's Restaurant was most recently a night club called
After Shock, and that the former Motor Lodge endured a succession
of brand affiliations (Howard Johnson's>Travelodge<Econo
Lodge>Budget Host) before taking on the Best Inn moniker. |
