Set to open in 1960 along
I-75's predecessor Hwy. U.S. 23, no trace of this Howard Johnson's
remains. Cactus Bob reported that its address is now that of
an Applebees, and a Don Pablo's, Lone Star Steakhouse and a Speedway
gas station occupy the rest of HoJo's former space. "Ghost"
listings on the Internet (and Bob's research) indicate that after
it was a Howard Johnson's, the Motor Lodge was converted first
into a Best Western, and then finally into a Quality Inn before
it was ultimately obliterated.
Ironically, just up the
street is a Howard Johnson Express Inn in a location that was
built as a Knight's Inn.
