Opened in August
of 1966, this Motor Lodge was once part of Leona Helmsley's hospitality
empire. Amazingly the location remained a Howard Johnson's until
1997 or 1998. After that it was converted into a Ramada. By 2004
no trace of the Helmsley HoJo's remains. It had been located
in a highly trafficked and commercial zone making its real estate
more valuable to sell than to keep as a motel. Its sprawling
site became host to a Lowes Home Improvement Center. |
