Port Huron opened in
1959 in a non-standard building that featured the earlier 'J'
within an 'H' logo on the face of the building. Billed as "Port
Huron's Largest and Finest," it had a heated swimming pool
and 61 guest rooms.
By 2004 the Restaurant
building had been razed and replaced with a Rite Aid. While the
original Motor Lodge buildings remain, the property was branded
a Days Inn and additional guest buildings had been built. Immediately
to the right of the Motor Lodge a strip shopping center was constructed
probably not long after the aerial photo seen above was shot.
The center featured several stores and was anchored by a "colonial"
style A & P.
