Built and opened between
1952 and 1954, Bob said that it must have really stood out as
a Howard Johnson's. Only a mile from the Flint-East Motor Lodge
and Restaurant, he speculated that this stand-alone location
likely ceased to be a HoJo's after the Motor Lodge opened in
1970. The second image shows that from the rear, "the orange
roof is not just defiantly bleeding through, but defiantly hemorrhaging
through!"
Bob noted that Dort Highway
"is littered with former chain restaurants." Not far
from the old HJ can be found the remains of a Rally's, Wendy's,
Taco Bell, Pizza Hut etc.
