Livonia, Michigan -- 36685 Plymouth Rd (once an alignment of U.S. 12)

The Livonia Howard Johnson's was a stand-alone Restaurant which opened during 1958 and lasted until 1971.

Researcher Bobby Peacock discovered an advertisement in the December 9, 1976 issue of the Canton Observer listing the former HoJo's as "Hudgen's House Eatery." By the early 2000s, the former Nims-type HoJo's had been significantly altered and was operating as Herc's Roast Beef.

Below & Lower: Located adjacent to the Restaurant, a motel once complimented the Howard Johnson's--note that it was not a Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge. The motel was called the Hines Park Motel and operated as a Quality Court. Originally featuring 60 rooms in two two-story buildings, the property was expanded to 126 rooms and a four-story building by 1970. The motel pulled out of the Quality Motel network during the early 1970s, but was re-affiliated as a Quality Inn during the 1980s according to information discovered by Bobby Peacock.

Eventually the original section of the Hines Park Motel became furnished "apartments" called Sunrise Studio Apartments and the newer four-story building was converted into a Days Inn.
