Rochester, Minnesota  -- 435 16th Ave NW

Opened in 1972 after a delay, the Rochester Motor Lodge featured 115 rooms in its three-story complex. Last to be a Howard Johnson in 1993, it had once been a Company operated location. By Phil's visit to the site, it had been considerably altered so as to be nearly unrecognizable and had become a Travelodge.

Converted into a Famous Dave's, the Restaurant remained remarkably recognizable--albeit in log cabin disguise!

Probably taken in the early 2000s, aerial views show that Rochester wearing any brand was lucky to have survived road reconstruction that largely cut off its greatest source of patrons.
