Postcards circa 1960s: Dan Donahue

Joplin, Missouri -- 3500 Rangeline Rd

Opened in about 1963, Joplin was a classic highway style Motor Lodge complex and featured all interior corridors. Described by AAA in 1968 as "very attractive," the Motor Lodge also impressed the reviewer with its "spacious grounds and tastefully appointed and well-kept guest rooms."

Above & Below: Note that a guest building was added behind the swimming pool.

Brochure 1990s : Dan Donahue

Joplin dropped out of the chain in about 1985, yet it remained in remarkably good and lightly altered condition until at least the middle 1990s.

Above: Operating as a Days Inn, the signature A-frame gate Lodge continued to be the property's lobby--even as its spire had been lopped off.

Below & Lower: Still in the 1990s, Joplin's rooms were well furnished and maintained and the swimming pool area appeared pristine.
