Having survived largely unaltered into the early 2000s, Springfield's guest buildings had maintained some of their original curb appeal.

Above: Note the truck cabs above and especially the one with the Mexican flag on the grill. Perhaps Springfield became a convenient way point for truckers involved in the transport of goods facilitated by NAFTA.
