Bob Venditti visited Middletown's Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge for the last time in late 2004. He wrote, "This property still appears to be a well-run operation. My two visits here in the 90's were very good. Although I don't care much for the remod...and they covered over all that nice brick...it could have been much worse..."

Note the guest wing behind the swimming pool in Bob's 1997 photo above. It was added in the late 1960s or early '70s to bump Middletowns' guest room count to 82.

Even as recently as the late 1990s, Middeltown was still a complete Howard Johnson's! Mr. Venditti's 1997 shots show it altered, but still in full Orange Roof splendor!

A little more than a year after he took these terrific photographs of the Restaurant, it was demolished and replaced with an Outback Steakhouse.
