Newark, New Jersey -- 550 U.S. 1 & 9 South

Fully ultra-modern, the five story 340 plus room Newark Airport location was opened in the Summer of 1970 during a time when the Howard Johnson Company was rapidly building higher end properties near airports. Newark's complex also featured a relatively late Nims-type Restaurant.

The Lodge remained branded as a HJ until 1990. It became a Ramada and most recently flew the much diminished Wyndham name.

Below: Newark's Restaurant featured an almost Red Coach Grill decor with its "tudor-esque" upscale furnishings from Landmark Supply.
