Wayne, New Jersey -- 1850 Rt 23

Built in 1970, the 152 guest room Wayne Motor Lodge and Restaurant complex was a late example of a classic facility to employ an a-frame Gate Lodge. By the middle 1980s, the site was operated by Prime Motor Inns (which had purchased the Howard Johnson brand from Marriott in 1985-'86).

According to information discovered by Eric Paddon, Wayne like Whippany was converted into a Wellesley Inn during the late 1990s. Cost to demolish the Gate Lodge and Restaurant, create a new lobby, gut the rooms, and stuccofy the location cost from $2 to $3 million dollars!
