Dating from the early 1960s, the Latham complex was further developed in 1970 with the addition of a Red Coach Grill. The classic Motor Lodge lost its HoJo's status and A-Frame Gate Lodge during 1997 after its owner ETC Hotel Corp. based in Yonkers, New York sold the property to Bhartendu “Brad” Desai, president and CEO of Kain Development. Subsequently the site was substantially remodeled and converted first into a Clarion and more recently was rebadged as a Quality Inn.

Upon its closure in October 1995, Latham's Orange Roofed Restaurant was a part of the Albany Restaurant Group Inc., owned by Lynn Reickel of Boston. A Bennigan’s (1, 2 ) was developed by the site's owner, Bhartendu “Brad” Desai, and it occupied the HJ Restaurant's spot from 1998 to 2006. Then in 2008 Desai spent $1.8 million converting the Bennigan's into a high-end steakhouse called Filet 7 West. Lasting not quite two years the steakhouse was closed and became Sake Japanese Steakhouse during 2011.

Located at 601 Troy Schenectady Rd, the Latham Red Coach Grill was adjacent to the Albany-Latham Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge and Restaurant complex. It was opened in 1970 and ceased operations in about 1983 when Howard Johnson's owner, Imperial Group Limited based in the UK, wound down the upscale chain.
