A contrast in views! When the property lost the HJ name, its I-90 facing guest rooms lost their sliders and functioning patios/balconies, but rooms facing the former swimming pool area retained all but their original railings. Remarkably the end brick was not stuccoed over.

Mr. Russo's second floor room, though updated, retained a few familiar Howard Johnson's features like the Pamper Panel and vaulted ceiling.

Note that the parking area extended well beyond the guest buildings--no doubt that the extra space had been intended for expansion that never came.

Below-Right: It is interesting to compare the size of the modern Cracker Barrel with the original HJ Restaurant, and to see how much larger the former is. Although the gas station located behind the HJ Restaurant might not have been a Texaco outlet, it nonetheless was an integral part of the complex offering travellers complete service.

Somehow surviving decommission, Steven LJ Russo easily discovered where the HoJo's swimming pool and outdoor lounge area had been. Ghost signs on what had been the pool deck listed water depth and proclaimed No Diving!
