Liberty,
New York -- 5 Rt 52 E |
Opened
in 1964, the Liberty complex was sited nearly adjacent to Grossinger's
Resort--no doubt the HoJo's benefited from the close proximity.
Liberty's Restaurant became an expensive Italian eatery while
retaining many HJ features.

Note the recycled "Roof Logo" street sign, the "Arizona
cactus stone" near the restaurant's entrance, the "Beacon
cupola" base, and the original but painted porcelain enamel
roof tiles.

Sadly
the Motor Lodge's A-Frame Gate Lodge was demolished probably at
the time that the property originally lost its Howard Johnson's
status. The Motor Lodge then suffered through a series of brand
changes before being repatriated.

Even
as the Motor Lodge endured a series of brand name changes, guest
rooms were never greatly remodeled or upgraded.
Below
& Lower: Guest room with exposed ceiling beams remained
as well as a battered Pamper Panel. |
