Poughkeepsie,
New York
2629 South Rd (Rt
9) |
The Nim's type stand-alone
Restaurant just south of Poughkeepsie was the second Howard Johnson's
to open in the area. It was located on Rt. 9, and opened in about
1956 adjacent to the Po'Keepsie Motor Lodge "In the Heart
of Scenic Dutchess County." |

While Jack Thomas
found that the old Po'Keepsie Motor Lodge wore an Econo Lodge
badge, it still looked much the same as it did in the late 1960s
postcard view--35+ years later! |

Unfortunately the
Restaurant did not retain its looks as the Po'Keepsie had--it's
called the Coyote Grill (2005) and sports an entirely reworked
facade. |
