Since
Smithtown was built using a cost-saving design, its guest
room balconies were not as generous as Lodges that had been
built in the 1960s. Mr. Vindetti's room was on the end of
a building and its exterior brick had not been painted.
Note
that the purpose of using natural brick in the first place
was to keep upkeep at a minimum--once the brick has been painted,
it must receive constant and costly repainting or it quickly
flakes rendering locations looking run-down. Motor Lodge owners
should NOT paint or stucco over the brick
since it increases maintenance costs considerably! |
