HoJo's No More ...
Stripped of its larger-than-life "HOWARD JOHNSON" letters and name in May of 2005, the Greensboro-Coliseum Motor Lodge continued serving the motoring public until March 21, 2006 as the High Rise Hotel.

Purchased in 2005 by Bhupen Patel for only $2.8 million, he will have reportedly spent an estimated $10 million in the processes of remaking the former HoJo's into a Doubletree Hotel. The Hooters that had operated a busy unit in the former HJ Restaurant was relocated, and its space will be refurbished into a low volume upscale restaurant that will primarily serve hotel guests. Even as the complex remains, it will have become only a bland version of its former self and joins the long list of Landmarks lost...

All of its HoJo's visual cues removed Greensboro-Coliseum has lost its appeal.
