The Will Rogers Turnpike
Vinita Concession

An elaborate structure, the Vinita concession spanned the Will Rogers Turnpike at the midway point between Tulsa and Joplin. Initially the modernistic building housed an Interstate Glass House Restaurant, cafeteria, and gift shop. The unique over-the-turnpike facility did not become a Howard Johnson's until the middle 1970s.
