This Page: Perhaps best described as a precursor to later Motor Lodge designs, Gettysburg's main guest building offered both interior and exterior room entry. The site's 78 rooms were outfitted with typical yet pre-standard HoJo's fixtures and furnishings.

Above Detail: Ultra-modern and painted with eye-catching colors each guest room exterior entry door featured a classic 'H in the J' door mat!

Below: HoJo's high style met hair style with the location's in-the-guest building hair salon.

Above: During periods not conducive to outdoor activities, the Motor Lodge offered guests a game room complete with many options. Yikes, plaid pants and air hockey just don't mix!

Below: The property featured five deluxe cabana units overlooking the swimming pool. Even in northern climates outdoor swimming pools were popular attractions.

Lower: Unlike other typical Howard Johnson's Motor Lodges, Gettysburg afforded some of its guests covered parking.

"The swimming pool area is very popular with a large pool and "baby" pool, both with filtration systems for ultra-cleanliness. Underwater lighting and music make evening swimming a delight."
