Ahead of its time
in design, form, and function, the Pittsburgh-Airport HoJo's
Motor Lodge opened in July of 1962. Ready to carry a lucky patron
or two to catch their flights, the Howard Johnson's courtesy
van was one of many perks offered by the Howard Johnson's.
This location lost its
prime spot when Pittsburgh's airport built a new terminal facility
on the other side of the airport, and the original terminal near
the HoJo's was abandoned. After losing the Howard Johnson's name
in 1985, the Motor Lodge became the Consort Inn, and by 2003
had become the Airport Plaza Hotel.
