A
very modern for its day compact multi-story Motor Lodge, Greenville-Downtown
opened in the summer of 1968, and featured an adjacent Howard
Johnson's Restaurant.
The
location was apparently purged from the Howard Johnson's system
in the 1980s. Entries in various AAA Tourbooks through the
1980s do not provide any clues about the former Lodge's identity
after its HJ days. Although considerably altered by the 2000s
and wearing the Econo Lodge moniker, the place was still recognizable.
