Greenville-South
was the first Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge and Restaurant
complex in the Greenville area, for it opened for business
in 1959 using the early standardized design created by architects
Rufus Nims and Carl Koch.
The
Motor Lodge was officially converted into a Days Inn during
1987 -- and remained such through the middle 1990s. After
its Days Inn days, the location recycled its signs becoming
the Economy Inn.
Note
that the roadsign's supports once held a Howard Johnson's
Trapezoid sign! |
